Why fabric containers?
At Natchez Tree Company, we grow all our trees in fabric containers—a superior method that ensures stronger roots, healthier trees, and easier handling. Unlike traditional balled-and-burlapped (B&B) trees, which suffer from circling roots, transplant shock, and seasonal harvesting limitations, our fabric container trees are built for success from day one.

The Fabric Container Process

plant in fabric container
Our growing process in fabric containers starts in 5 gallon containers. A Fabric Container is designed with air root pruning in mind, meaning no circling roots or transplant shock.

Plant Grows in Ground, in container
Fabric Containers ensure that 80%+ of the root structure is harvested with the plant. We prune fibrous roots when they hit the air; a practice optimizing for the healthiest root development.

Simple Transplant or Harvest
We don’t dig up our trees in temperatures over 100 degrees or when the tree is coming into bud, (for those who want to push the fabric containers past the logical limits).

The Natchez Difference
RediRoot® fabric Containers
We believe that better roots mean better trees—and that’s why we exclusively use RediRoot® Fabric Aeration Bags for growing our trees. Designed to maximize root health, improve transplant success, and increase overall tree performance.
A soft-sided fabric container helps do a better job of growing and transplanting trees. The fabric bag prevents damaging root circling, an extended harvesting season, and the fastest plant rejuvenation after transplanting. Plus, trees planted in fabric containers are jobsite tough-- handling the harsh environments of construction zones without sacrificing quality.
Truckload Capacity
A 40-foot gooseneck trailer can carry up to 55 trees of 3" caliper (30-gallon containers) or 25 trees of 4" caliper (55-gallon containers), while a 54-foot semi stepdeck truck can transport up to 100 trees of 3" caliper or 65 trees of 4" caliper. A recent record shipment to DFW successfully delivered 105 Autumn Blaze Maples (3" caliper, 30-gallon) in a single load.
Additionally, trees in 30-gallon containers weigh approximately 325 pounds each, and those in 55-gallon containers weigh about 625 pounds each. This reduced weight allows for quicker, safer, and more efficient installations at job sites, providing greater overall value.

Reduce Your Freight Costs
Fabric Containers reduce the overall volume and weight of our trees rootball, making them easier to transport and plant. Our method allows us to fit up to 40% more trees per truckload compared to traditional B&B or hard sided container trees, reducing shipping costs and maximizing value.
For instance, we can fit 100 three-inch caliper trees on a semi-trailer, while competitors using B&B or hard sided containers only fit 60-70. That’s more trees per load and more savings for you.
